What is meant by the AGFUND endeavor to “Empower Women”?

 Empowering women is considered a developmental vision that comprises many essentials, the basis of which is “The Contribution of women in taking economic, social and political decisions in order to achieve strategic interests that should lead to the improvement of the living conditions for the woman, her family and her society” AGFUD efforts in the field of empowering women include the endeavor to originate the necessary legislations in order to expand the opportunities for women to participate in the fields of politics, economics and sociology, actually it is basically aimed towards preparing the women and setting them ready to get their legitimate rights, given the fact that women are the most powerful ones to claim their own rights. One of the fundamental convictions in AGFUD’s methodology appears its awareness that a lot of the developmental deficiency that the Arab communities suffer from reverts to the absence of the women role or even forcing aside her efforts to contribute to the progress of the society. And this is exactly what the President of AGFUND, HRH /Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz expressed when he said that: “The Arab women in no way possess lesser abilities or power to create, than their matches in the western societies, all they need is just a chance and also to be given some opportunity, in addition to surely get the rights provided for them by virtue of our religion instead of constraining them by our pretentious traditions and customs.

 “ What is meant by “Institutional Structure ”?

The Institutional Structure is a developmental sector that focuses mainly on the human element as one of the fixed variables in the process of the sustainable human development. In the light of this, The Institutional Structure shall mean, raising the standard of the national frameworks and cadres as well as refining their skills, and at the same time increasing the level of their cumulative experiences, the matter to be achieved via the establishment of organizations and financing projects specified and addressed for the training.

 What is the “Sustainable Development”?

By sustainable development we refer to that kind of development that satisfies the needs of our present time, yet without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs. The experts ensure that the human development can never achieve this aspired sustainability unless it focuses on fighting poverty and finding a solution for it.
